Daily Deviation Features: My Fractal Art Highlights

The Daily Deviation features the artwork of artists that community volunteers on Deviant Art want to feature to the entire community. Over the course of several years, my fractal art has been featured multiple times. The following is a detailed outline of each featured piece.

Timeless

Timeless Fractal Art by Stan Ragets

When I created Timeless, I wanted to convey the feeling of how fast time moves. So often, we think there’s more time available than is really there. The aim of this fractal was to incorporate as many timepieces as I could into the work. You can see an hourglass, a sundial, and a clock face. There are quite a few others too! Timeless was my first Daily Deviation and was featured on August 22, 2007.

My Stash

My Stash Fractal Art by Stan Ragets

This piece has proven to be a crowd favorite for several years. The piece has been stolen by several people, even by one person in Montana who printed it on canvas and won first place in an art competition! My Stash was designed as a fractal to showcase my toolbag of fractal tricks when it comes to the Julian flame fractal style, a special set of formulas and techniques. This piece was featured on February 25, 2008.

Fractal Periodic Table

This piece is a compilation of about one full year’s work. Each fractal on the table is an abstract representation of the specific element on the periodic table. For instance, for 36 – Kr (Krypton), when viewed with spectrography, you will see green and orange spectral lines. You can really get your chemistry-nerd on by looking through the individual elements and seeing how the abstraction relates to the real-world element. The Periodic Table was featured on September 20, 2008.

The Gravy Idea

The Gravy Idea is the first fractal that I received a Daily Deviation for that was made in Ultra Fractal and not in Apophysis. As I was making this piece, it reminded me of a plate full of peas and mashed potatoes and gravy. The Gravy Idea received the Daily Deviation feature on August 27, 2010.

IHK

IHK stands for I Heart Kelly. This piece was specially designed for my wife to convey the depth of my love for her. It’s multifaceted and unending. She’s a wonderful woman, very supportive and strong. IHK was featured on April 19, 2010.

Simply Smooth

Simply Smooth is an iteration from a style I worked on for close to three years. The idea is to take a simple geometric shape (like the circle) and break it up, yet retain the form, and still come out with something pleasing to look at. The fractal was actually developed two years earlier, but languished in a massive render queue. Simply Smooth was featured as a Daily Deviation on January 11, 2013.

Frost On The Tip of Your Nose

There’s something about this piece…I can’t really say what it is, but I love it. It’s one of my favorite fractals that I personally have designed. Can you see the nostrils? Frost on the Tip of Your Nose was featured on July 20, 2014. This piece was sold as a one-of-a-kind original artwork to a very happy collector in Australia.

All Of My Cubes

All Of My Cubes was born from relentless exploration of geometric forms in Apophysis. Inside each of the sides of the cube, you’ll find an infinite amount of additional cubes! Getting everything to line up right was very tricky! All Of My Cubes was featured on March 31, 2025.
